How site access impacts cost
Why the gap down the side of your house matters more than you think.
Machine access
Most excavators need about 1.8m clear access. Narrower than that means smaller machines, more hours and more spoil trips — all of which add cost.
Shell access
A fibreglass shell needs roughly its full width plus clearance to be carried in. Most backyards need a crane instead.
What to measure
Measure the narrowest point between the house and boundary, including meter boxes, hot water units, gutters and air-con units.
