Fibreglass vs concrete pools

Cost, build time, durability and design freedom — the honest trade-offs.

Fibreglass

Factory-made shell lifted into place. Faster installs (often 2–4 weeks on site), smooth gel-coat surface that resists algae, and lower chemical use. Sizes and shapes are limited to manufacturer moulds, and shells over about 4m wide can't travel on WA roads.

Concrete

Built in place, so any shape or size is possible. Expect 8–14 weeks and a higher price. Interiors need re-rendering or re-tiling every 10–20 years and use more chemicals.

Which suits you

On tight or awkward blocks concrete can avoid a crane. On standard Perth sandy blocks, fibreglass is usually faster and cheaper for the same size.
